Do you accept payment on the boat?

Yes, we can accept CASH or Venmo. Or, book a ride here using your card.

Are children allowed on the boat?

Yes, of course. (Under 16 must be with a parent)
NOTE: Children under 5 must be wearing an infant life jacket, which parent provides.

What are your days / hours of operation?

Depends on the season. For the summer it’s ..

Wed: 12-8pm

Thur: 12-8pm

Fri: 12-8:30pm

Sat: 12-8:30pm

Sun: 12-8pm

Mon: 12-8pm

Are animals allowed on the boat?

Service dogs only, please. Mention to the Captain when booking your ride.

Are all rides one-way?

Yes, except for Wood Island rides, Dinner Cruise and private charters. But we often offer special on facebook or Instagram so please follow us!

What about cancellation due to awful weather?

No worries. Taxi Rides and Charters can be re-scheduled or refunded. We’ll be in touch.

What safety measures are in place?

Portsmouth Water Taxi meets or exceeds all Coast Guard requirements for safety, including PFDs (life jackets). We have safety handrails, GPS, Garmin radar, and more.

What if I struggle with mobility? Will it be hard to get on and off the boat?

We have hand rails and sturdy steps and the Captain is attentive and helpful.

How many passengers can you accommodate?

Max 6 passengers.

Can we bring alcoholic beverages on board?

Yes, if they are unopened. We have a cooler on board. But we cannot allow any passengers to be inebriated.

Do you charge extra for some rides?

Yes, rides beyond the Little Bay Bridge (Newington/Dover) may incur a $20 surcharge.
The Captain will let you know.

Do we need life jackets?

We have 6 adult and 2 child PFDs on board. Plus, a throwable life ring.
(however, kids under 5 must be wearing an infant life jacket before boarding)

Are you fully insured ?

Absolutely. We have a comprehensive policy with Maritime Insurance International – all the required liability insurance, as well as towing coverage with BOAT US. No worries!
